On Friday morning, a fire at the clevenger and stove apparatus on the city’s east side exploded, forcing firefighters to rush to the scene.
The blaze was under control within minutes.
The fire, which caused $50,000 in damage, has forced the evacuation of the east side of the city.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters from Portland and the Bureau of Fire and Emergency Management were dispatched to the blaze around 10 a.m. on Friday.
According to the Oregon Fire Marshal’s office, the cause of Friday’s blaze is under active investigation.
It’s unclear whether any employees at the facility were inside the building when the fire began.
It’s also unclear whether firefighters were using the appliance at the time of the blaze.
The bureau has requested the public’s assistance in locating and locating a vehicle that may have driven up to the site.
The bureau has also requested assistance from the Portland Fire Department and the Portland Public Utilities Commission.
